Self Care – Looking after yourself

Carers can spend a lot of time caring at the expense of their own health and happiness.

It is important to look after your health and wellbeing to stop the build-up of stress that can lead to depression and anxiety.

Carers who look after themselves are better able to care for others, and this can benefit their relationships with other family and friends. Looking after yourself can also set a positive example to the person you are caring for.

Caregivers accept that they are not selfish for taking care of themselves physically, mentally, emotionally or otherwise.

They realise that taking care of themselves improves their ability to care for others.
